Application for Instructor - St. Clair College, Windsor

The Border Services Program at the Windsor Campus is looking for applicants to teach a second-year Border Services course for the upcoming Fall (2025) Semester.  Below is the course title and description. Please communicate to your members and those interested.

Course Title – Criminal Code and Federal Statutes for Border Services

Course Description - This course will profile the authority of designated Border Services Officers and their power to enforce various Acts of Parliament, including the Criminal Code of Canada. Sections of the Criminal Code discussed in this course will relate to situations customs officers could encounter at the border. Students will locate applicable statutory and case law and utilize critical thinking skills to analyze various factual scenarios in order to formulate the elements of offence(s) and defend their decision. Students will interpret elements of offences related to the Firearms Act; Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) Act and their relationship with the Criminal Code. The students will also examine how the Charter of Rights interacts with various federal offences.
