Karen E. Palmeter | Karen Palmeter passed away on May 4, 2022. Karen will be remembered as a kind, strong, compassionate, and supportive woman. She was a Customs Officer at Toronto Pearson International Airport for 20 years before pursuing her passion to be a teacher at the Halton Catholic District School Board. |

Donald Gordon Comrie | Don Comrie passed away on
Monday, May 30th. Don
worked as a Canadian Border Services Officer for over 30 years, finishing his
career as an Operations Chief at Pearson International Airport. |
Patricia Gilfillan | Patricia Gilfillan, passed away on May 27, 2022. Patty began her working career at Vancouver Police Department where she worked as support staff in the traffic unit. She later joined Canada Border Services Agency (Canada Customs) where she worked at Vancouver Airport as a Customs Officer and then became one of the agencies earliest females to become a Customs Investigator. As a life-long supporter of the Canadian Cancer Society, memorial donations may be made in her name. |
Steve MacNaughton | Steve MacNaughton passed away peacefully on May 20, 2022. Steve began his career with the CBSA at the Cornwall Port of Entry in 1986 as a Customs Inspector. Steve went on to work many years in the Intelligence and Enforcement Division and spent some time in Headquarters. Steve progressively advanced his career while holding several key leadership positions within the Agency before retiring as Director of the Ottawa District in May 2020. A celebration of will held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Cornwall on Sunday, June 5 at 13:00 hrs. Donations in Steve’s memory can be made to the Cornwall Hospice. |
Marilyn Diane Franks | Marilyn Franks passed away peacefully on April 1, 2022. Marilyn worked for Canada Customs and Immigration for many years in Emerson and Winnipeg forming many long-lasting friendships. If so desired, please consider donations in Marilyn’s name to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation. |
Victor Dumesnil | Victor Dumesnil passed away on March 22, 2022 at the age of 82. Victor will be remembered for an accomplished career in the federal public service which included Canfarm, CBSA, CCRA, CEUDA, and Elections Canada. |
Roy Benson | Roy Benson, “Mr. B” passed away on March 7, 2022. Roy will be remembered for his long standing 40 year career working for Canada Customs in the Greater Toronto Area Region. Donations would be greatly appreciated to the Roy Benson Memorial Fund for Camp Shalom. Roy and Helen both worked for Canadian Young Judaea and their camps have remained a special part of our family ever since. Frederick (Fred) Easton | Passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the age of 74. Fred worked for the RCMP, Winnipeg City Police and finished his career with Canada Border Services, with over 30 years in Federal service. Full obituary and sharing of online condolences at: |
Albert LaFrance | Albert LaFrance passed away on Saturday February 12, 2022. Prior to his retirement, Albert was a public servant for 33 years with Revenue Canada Customs and Excise. He had a passion for his profession which allowed him to travel to several places in Canada as well as in Europe, and in Cyprus on a mission with the United Nations. Since the beginning of his career in 1972, Albert was determined and always looking to climb the ladder for his eventual goal of becoming manager. He accomplished this task in 1991 when he became Director of the Southern Manitoba Region which was based in Emerson. After a few years, he was transferred to Edmundston where he held his last position as Director of the New Brunswick North West Region. In memory of Albert, a contribution to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. |
Maurice (Moe) James Jenkins | Passed away on Thursday January 13, 2022 at the age of 84. Moe retired from a 38 year career in the Federal government (prominently in Customs and Excise/Drawbacks) at age 55. Full obituary and sharing of online condolences at: |
