Joseph Patrick Ryan
Joseph Patrick Ryan passed away at the age of 58 on May 12, 2021. Joe worked in the CBSA Southern Ontario Region for over 30 years and was a member of the CBSA Honour guard. Donations can be made to CAMH (The Center for Addictions and Mental Health) or Ontario Association for Suicide Prevention.
Jim Duncan Murray
(Jim) Duncan Murray passed away on May 4, 2021, at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB.
Jim retired from Canada Customs after working 28 years as a Customs Officer between the Emerson and Winnipeg locations.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre
Edward Daniel Whitten
Edward passed away at the age of 96. He was born in Orangeville Ontario and he served in World War II for 2 years working in the engine rooms of the Bowmanville & Arnprior ships. Ed retired from Canada Customs after working 21 as a Customs Officer at Vancouver International Airport and Vancouver Marine. Ed had the honour of being one of the last WWII Navy Veterans working in the Public Service.
Marie Klaude Langlois passed away on April 16, 2021. Marie Klaude started as a Customs Officer in 1983 at Douglas. She worked her entire career at Land Borders, starting at Douglas then Huntingdon then Pacific Highway. MK worked in the US Nexus enrolment Centre as well as the Canadian Processing Centre. MK was respected and loved by her peers. She will be missed by all.
Daniel James "Dan " VanBuskirk
Daniel James "Dan" VanBuskirk passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the young age of 55. Dan worked for the CBSA in the Greater Toronto Region. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa. Dan was a Big Brother in Toronto many years ago and greatly enjoyed his time with the organization.
Jean Pierre Carriere
Jean Pierre Carriere passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2021. J.P. was happily retired from the Federal Government (Customs). His family is grateful to Dr. Ryan, the Ottawa Heart Institute for giving him nine extra years following his heart transplant, the many doctors and nurses at The Ottawa Hospital for his five years of treatment, and the palliative care staff. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice gratefully accepted.

Laurel Annette Randle passed away on April 8, 2021 at the age of 58.
Jeevan Singh Sull
Jeevan Singh Sull recently passed away suddenly. Jeevan worked for CBSA in the Pacific Region. Jeevan was a kind and gentle soul. He had a passion for gardening and cooking. In lieu of flowers a tree can be planted in his honour.
Valerie Fung passed away peacefully on March 31, 2021 in Vancouver. She was a lifelong employee of Canada Customs downtown and at the airport before retiring in 2013. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to UBC Hospital Foundation.
John Szewczyk passed away peacefully, on Friday, March 12, 2021. John worked for the CBSA in the Greater Toronto Region, where he retired as Chief of Operations. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
Richard "Dick" Paul Nadon
Richard “Dick” Paul Nadon passed away on March 18, 2021 at the age of 76.
Dick retired from Canada Customs after 30 years; he worked in Cornwall, Lahr West Germany, Niagara Falls, and the Canada Customs College. Dick enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul in Welland, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Legion.
Ralph passed away on March 21, 2021, in his 66th year.
Ralph felt blessed by the love of his family, and enjoyed sharing laughter, interests and life's adventures with his family and many dear friends. He gave to his country and community through his service with The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, The Toronto Police Auxiliary and Canada Border Services Agency, retiring as a Chief of Criminal Investigations with CBSA.
If desired, donations may be made to The Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, Sunnybrook Hospital or Wounded Warriors Canada.

Michael passed away on March 3rd, 2021, at the age of 68. He worked for the Federal Government for 38 years, where he held positions as a Custom Officer, a Manager in Hamilton, ON with assignments in Emerson MB and Regina District before he moved to CCRA Tax for his final years, ending his career in Windsor ON.
John Edward Randle
John passed away peacefully, on February 28, 2021 at The Meadows of Dorchester in his 91st year.
John had a long and successful career with the Federal Public Service, working for Revenue Canada Customs and Excise in Oshawa, Ottawa, Windsor, Niagara Falls and Fort Erie, retiring in 1988.

Arthur Shogo Kobayashi
ARTHUR passed away peacefully, at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto, at the age of 91 years. Arthur was a good man who enjoyed being active in Japanese Canadian communities, and the Church. He was a Korean War Vet with Canadian Forces (awarded CD). During WWII, he survived the Lemon Creek, B.C. Japanese Canadian internment camp. Arthur worked for National Revenue Customs and Excise, in the Drawback, Refunds and Remissions Unit at 1 Front Street, in Toronto. Frederick "Fred" Allan Sipchenko
Fred passed away of natural causes on Friday, 12 February 2021.
Fred’s life was punctuated by a series of transitions leading from the local farming communities which surrounded Ormiston Saskatchewan, through a 32-year career with Canada Customs that brought him from a border customs agent into French language training, on to a key role in Ottawa in customs support to NAFTA implementation, and finishing in the Calgary Customs office.
Rudolf (Rude) VAN STEENES HIERCK
Rudolf (Rude) Eduard Van Steenes - Hierck passed away on January 29, 2021. Rude was first and foremost a musician. In his later years he enjoyed a “daytime” career with CBSA as an auditor in the Greater Toronto Area Region. Please smile, sing, feel blessed, play his music loudly and hug a dog in his memory. He truly loved his family and friends.
Donations can be made to the St. John Ambulance, as two of Rude’s dogs have been Therapy Dogs, or to a charity of your choice are appreciated.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the hilarious Gina Marie Brejcha (1947-2021), who fought, & sadly lost, a valiant battle against a brute named Cancer. John passed away at home on January 8, 2021 at the age of 73. After retiring as Regional Director with Canada Customs, John worked as consultant to the Customs services of Egypt, Jamaica, Barbados, Laos, and many other countries. William (Bill) James Wilson
July 12, 1932 - December 28, 2020
William served in the Navy during the Korean War and was also stationed in Portsmouth, UK as a crew member onboard the submarine HMS/M Alliance. He ultimately went to Esquimalt, BC. He continued to serve the government of Canada when he began working part-time for Customs and Excise. His job with Customs and Excise in Victoria, BC would send him on an accelerated career path and many relocations. He served as a Chief Superintendent in Vernon, BC for two years before being promoted to Area chief for the Yukon based in Whitehorse. He moved to Osoyoos in 1980 where he took over as Chief of Customs operation for the Port of Osoyoos from April 1980 until his retirement in 1993.

René Pelletier, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the Ste. Anne (Manitoba) Hospital.
René began his career in 1970 with Canada Customs at the Emerson Border, then came to Winnipeg and worked at the airport. He worked in many locations, which took him to such interesting places as Churchill, Cyprus, Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk and Iqaluit, then retired in Fort Frances with over 30 years of service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Fund
Darko passed away suddenly at the age of 65.

Norman Edward Heide
Passed away peacefully on July 6, 2020 at the age of 92.
His service to his country was something he was extremely proud of, starting with enlisting in the Navy at 15 years old, serving in the Korean War and then continuing on in Canada Customs.
